The National Organization for Women (NOW) is the largest grassroots feminist activist organization in the United States. With hundreds of thousands of contributing supporters and members across all 50 states and the District of Columbia, NOW has been at the forefront of the fight for gender equality since its founding in 1966. Through intersectional grassroots activism, NOW works to advance feminist ideals, drive societal change, eliminate discrimination, and protect the equal rights of all women and girls in social, political, and economic spheres.
Each semester, NOW interns gain hands-on experience that prepares them to become future leaders in activism. Internship opportunities include:
- Organizing and attending Congressional and U.S. Supreme Court hearings, press conferences, demonstrations, and rallies
- Writing blog posts on feminist and social justice issues
- Participating in NOW 101 workshops focusing on feminist topics and professional development
- Lobbying members of Congress to support key legislation
- Engaging with NOW’s grassroots members

Duties:
President’s Office The President’s Office intern will gain firsthand experience in the inner workings of a national grassroots activist organization. This role provides an opportunity to engage directly with NOW’s leadership, participate in strategic planning, and support key initiatives. Responsibilities include:- Attending meetings on NOW’s strategic planning, policies, and initiatives
- Assisting in planning rallies, conferences, and NOW events
- Supporting the RUN NOW efforts
- Playing an integral role in the internship vetting, interviewing, and hiring process
- Supporting NOW Feminist Public Square initiatives
- Facilitating membership engagement activities
- Attending meetings related to NOW’s strategic planning, policies, and initiatives
- Assisting in planning rallies, conferences, and events
- Researching candidates’ records on women’s rights issues and tracking endorsement requests
- Attending PAC-related meetings (usually on Saturdays)
- Creating content for PAC social media pages
- Supporting the RUN NOW training program
- Conducting daily research on women's issues and legislative developments
- Writing memos and policy briefs on relevant legislation and events
- Writing blog posts on topics such as reproductive rights, economic justice, racial justice, and constitutional equality
- Attending coalition meetings, Congressional briefings, and hearings, and reporting back to staff
- Managing NOW’s social media platforms
- Creating digital content, including graphics and videos
- Assisting with online community engagement
- Covering off-site events and creating live content
- Knowledge of Canva is a plus
- Reconciling credit card statements and organizing check requests
- Assisting with expense reporting and financial reconciliation
- Performing general data entry and financial record-keeping
- Managing membership inquiries and processing membership data
- Assisting with member communications, including thank-you emails and outreach
- Facilitating mailing inquiries and maintaining accurate membership records
- Supporting grassroots engagement initiatives
- Attending meetings related to NOW’s Direct Mail and Digital Campaigns
- Managing NOW membership data via the EveryAction database
- Developing and updating resources for chapter leaders and members
- Processing chapter supply orders and requests
- Assisting with chapter inquiries and communications
- Supporting NOW’s high school clubs and Campus Action Networks
- Assisting in donor outreach and stewardship efforts, including thank-you letters and follow-ups
- Conducting prospect research on potential donors, corporate sponsors, and grant opportunities
- Supporting the planning and execution of fundraising campaigns and events
- Assisting with donor database management and gift processing
- Drafting grant proposals and reports
- Collaborating with the Digital and Communications teams to develop fundraising materials and social media content

NOW seeks hard-working, enthusiastic, and flexible individuals who are passionate about feminist activism. Applicants should have an interest in women's issues, grassroots organizing, and advocacy. Interns should be committed to advancing equality and justice beyond their time at NOW.Salary: $700 Monthly
