Prior to the beginning of this 112th Congress, Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) had his chief of staff meet with Operation Rescue founder Randall Terry, and just weeks ago Governor Sam Brownback (R-KS) appointed a former attorney for Operation Rescue, Rick Macias, to a state board that has authority to regulate abortion providers. The phrase “palling around with terrorists” does come to mind.

Women at the bottom of the socioeconomic hierarchy are least able to participate as feminists. Women who have multiple jobs, children to raise, are single mothers, don’t know English, can’t afford to go to school even if scholarships are available because they have other things to worry about. These women might not even have access to information that would help them identify as feminists, let alone take action.

I’m proud of where I come from and who I am today. So the news that a Chick-fil-A in Dallas held a Daddy-Daughter Date Night right before Father’s Day has me conflicted along identity lines.
