NOW Gears Up for National Conference in Tampa, Florida

Hundreds of feminist activists from around the country will gather in Tampa, Fla., for the National NOW Conference from June 24-26, 2011. This year’s conference theme, Daring to Dream: Building a Feminist Future, is centered on advancing the principles that have been steering feminism all along: equality, fairness, opportunity, non-violence and empowerment.

House Escalates Savage Attack on Women’s Health

Today the House passed a sweeping anti-abortion rights bill that would enshrine abortion funding restrictions into law, putting women’s health and lives at risk. NOW vows to work aggressively to block passage in the Senate and applauds the White House for threatening to veto this bill.

Global Gag Rule Tabled — For the Moment

Women’s reproductive health care advocates can rest easy for the moment, as Congress has passed a resolution to continue funding the federal government for the rest of the fiscal year that does not include such onerous anti-woman provisions as the re-imposition of the Global Gag Rule.

So today, April 12, 2011, after 75 extra days of waged work, the average working woman has finally been paid as much as the average working man received last year. Woo Hoo!
