DOMA is blatant discrimination and bigotry — subjecting same-sex couples to the tyranny of the majority. It defends no one’s marriage and only serves to harm loving couples and their families — families that deserve the same recognition and legal protections as their neighbors.
Today, we rejoice with same-sex couples in Vermont who can have their relationships legally recognized as the new law legalizing same-sex marriage, passed by the Vermont legislature on April 7, takes effect.
To mark the auspicious occasion, Ben & Jerry’s has renamed their “Chubby Hubby” flavor ice cream to “Hubby Hubby.” I wish more brands were so supportive of equal marriage!
