Abortion Around the World – An Overview

Women’s reproductive health advocates believe that — as a fundamental human right — all women everywhere should have access to reproductive health and family planning services, including abortion. Unfortunately, in many parts of the world, women face serious and sometimes insurmountable barriers in obtaining those services. Women’s health and their families’ well-being suffer as a consequence. Tragically, women’s lives are lost unnecessarily because of abortion restrictions and lack of access to medical services.

The Romney-Ryan Budget: Taking Aim at Women’s Health Care

The leaders of the Republican Party claim to be on a mission to reduce this nation’s “crushing burden of debt.” The centerpiece of this effort is Rep. Paul Ryan’s 99-page 2013 budget proposal. Because GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney has embraced it wholeheartedly, I call it the Romney-Ryan budget plan.

NOW Calls for Defeat of Those Who Voted for D.C. 20-Week Abortion Ban

Today, extremists in Congress continued their War on Women by pressing for legislation that would criminalize abortions in the nation’s capital after 20 weeks of pregnancy. Sponsored by Rep. Trent Franks (R-Ariz.), the D.C. 20-Week Abortion Ban would have imposed federal fines and up to two years’ imprisonment for doctors, without exceptions for rape, incest or the pregnant woman’s health.
