“Rep. Swalwell made the right decision to drop out of the California gubernatorial race. Now, he should take the next step and resign from Congress. We believe women,” said Villanueva in a statement.
Christian F. Nunes, president of the National Organization for Women, said the guilty verdict should bring a measure of comfort to sexual-assault victims. “They will feel some justice has been served,” she said.
“It’s heartbreaking to listen to the accounts of survivors of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ alleged crimes of sexual violence, rape and abuse. They deserve justice, and Sean Combs must be held fully accountable,” she said, “As new accusations and individuals come forward, we also see how damaged we are as a society by an insidious culture of toxic masculinity that has gone unchallenged too long.”
Society has long failed survivors of sexual violence, especially Black women and girls who experience sexual violence at disproportionate rates.
