Congress: Co-Sponsor the Women’s Health Protection Act HR448/S217

Write your member of Congress  to co-sponsor the Women’s Health Protection Act (H.R.448 / S.217), which would prohibit states from singling out abortion clinics for abusive, medically unnecessary regulation.

Dozens of states have passed TRAP laws (Targeted Restrictions on Abortion Providers) aimed at shutting down clinics where abortion care is provided? Over 60 clinics have closed their doors in 2014 alone as a result.

Under the Women’s Health Protection Act, states would simply be required to regulate abortion providers the same way they regulate other clinics and doctors who provide comparable services. No more discriminatory rules like special ambulatory surgical standards, hospital admitting privileges, propagandizing patients with lies about the procedure, or unnecessary waiting periods.

One in three women will have an abortion before the age of forty-five, making this procedure a common and necessary aspect of women’s reproductive health care. I’m counting on you to stand up against abusive TRAP laws and co-sponsor H.R.448 / S.217.

Thank you for doing the right thing and protecting women’s health and well-being.
