URGENT ALERT: Stop Confirmation of Judge Barrett

On Thursday, the Senate Judiciary Committee voted 12-0 to “favorably” report the nomination of Amy Comey Barrett for a seat on the U.S. Supreme Court. Only the Republicans on the committee voted as the 10 Democrats boycotted the meeting. Chair Lindsey Graham (R-SC) broke the rule that requires two members of the minority party to be present. The entire process has been a sham, with the Republican leaders jamming this right-wing extremist judge through the Senate on the eve of an election that the Republicans might well lose. 

The vote to confirm may take place Monday evening, Oct. 26. 

Amy Coney Barrett’s record shows that she is opposed to abortion rights, the Affordable Care Act, workplace safety laws, same sex marriage, labor rights and many other crucial protections. Judge Barrett does not respect judicial precedent and has made it a goal to overturn as many laws and policies advancing equality as she can. She is even more right-wing than her mentor, the late Justice Antonin Scalia. 

ACTION IS NEEDED NOW: 

Please call, email, visit the state offices of your Senators. Use some of the information above to explain why Amy Coney Barrett is ill suited for the Supreme Court. 

Contact your Senators, especially the few who might be having second thoughts. They need to hear from YOU. Tell them you are watching them and deciding who to vote for this election. Ask your Senators to speak against the vote on the Senate floor during the debate Monday – explain why they should vote “nay.”
