The Inflation Reduction Act Makes Historic Progress—but it’s not the end of the journey

President Biden made history today by signing the Inflation Reduction Act, which invests $750 million in fighting climate change, bringing down drug prices, and extending subsidies for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act.  This is progress by any measure—but it could have been so much more.

The bill President Biden signed does not include paid family and sick leave, universal pre-K, an extension of the child tax credit, or measures to lower the cost of college.  NOW members will keep up the fight for these and other urgently needed priorities, but we join today in hailing this important step forward.
