The National Organization for Women (NOW) is thrilled to join today’s rally for marriage equality in Springfield, Illinois. Since 1971, NOW has stood strong for lesbian rights and has fought for marriage equality for almost two decades.
Our activists are proud to work with our allies in Illinois — and across the country — so that all loving couples can have the recognition and protections that only marriage can provide.
We rally today to remind the Illinois House what is at stake for the thousands of same-sex couples in Illinois. It is time to end the second-class status of civil unions. It is far past time for the Illinois House to listen to the majority of Illinois residents and pass marriage equality.
