Washington, D.C. Congratulations to Speaker Nancy Pelosi on a historic tenure as the first woman speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. Pelosi is one of the most effective, consequential, and widely respected speakers in history, and her legacy as a champion for women’s rights is unparalleled. Thanks to her courageous leadership, she improved the lives of millions of women by advocating for better health care, more economic justice, protections against violence and so much more. National Organization for Women (NOW) members are grateful for Speaker Pelosi’s accomplishments and her many years of service.
