Conservatives Continue to Find Avenues to Restrict Women’s Bodily Autonomy by Offering Amendment to NDAA to Ban Service Members Access to Abortion

Statement by National NOW President Christian F. Nunes

WASHINGTON, D.C. — National NOW President Christian F. Nunes issued the following statement in advance of the expected U.S. House of Representatives vote on an amendment to the 2025 National Defense Authorization Act that would ban the Pentagon from paying for women servicemembers’ abortions:

“Here we go again with the same playlist. Conservative lawmakers continue to spin the same record over and over in their attempts to restrict a woman’s right to abortion and reproductive medical care.

These extremists will use any avenue – legislative or political – to deny women the right to make decisions about what’s best for them and their families. NOW urges Members of Congress to vote against the National Defense Authorization Act to ensure that our servicewomen have bodily autonomy.”
