How to Submit a Bylaw Amendment
Every year at the National Conference we vote on any proposed bylaws amendments. The bylaws are NOW’s governing document. There is a specific process for amending the bylaws set out in Article XIV of the current bylaws.
The bylaws can be amended by a three-fifths vote of the credentialed members at the National Conference. In order to submit a bylaws amendment for consideration at the Conference, it must be proposed by a majority of the National Board or 200 members or by two state organizations or 25 chapters. The proposed bylaws amendments must be submitted to the President at least 90 days in advance of the conference. That means they must be submitted by April 24, 2021.
Any proposed amendments will be posted 60 days ahead of the conference, May 24, 2021, on the members-only section of the NOW website. A notice will be sent to the NOW email list notifying members that the proposed bylaws have been posted so that you can review them in preparation for the bylaws plenary at the conference.
