NOW Foundation’s Love Your Body Campaign Launches Let’s Talk About It: A Video Project for NEDAwareness Week

In support of National Eating Disorders Awareness Week, taking place Feb. 20-26, 2011, the National Organization for Women Foundation’s Love Your Body campaign is encouraging women to speak up and speak out about body image — on camera. A unique video campaign, Let’s Talk About It, provides a space for women and girls to talk about struggles and success with body image.

NOW Urges Democratic Leadership to Name Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney Ranking Member of Oversight Committee

Congresswoman Maloney is the second-ranking Democrat on the committee after Committee Chairman Rep. Ed Towns (D-N.Y.), who is giving up his post, and has given his support to Maloney. NOW, with a coalition of women’s groups, has signed on to a letter of support for Congresswoman Maloney, strongly urging the Democratic leadership to honor seniority and appoint Maloney as the next Ranking Member of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

NOW Not Satisfied with Target CEO’s Apology

Under protest from LGBT rights activists, Target CEO Gregg Steinhafel apologized on Aug. 5 for donating $150,000 to a group that supports an anti-gay marriage, anti-equality candidate for governor in Minnesota. That same day, NOW had sent a letter to Steinhafel objecting not only to the company’s political donation, but also to his personal stance against an eating disorder treatment facility opening up in his community.
