ACTION ALERT – RFK Jr. Poses Danger if Confirmed HHS Secretary
February 5, 2025
The Issue:
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (RFK Jr.), nominee for Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary, has advanced through the committee hearing process and now faces a Senate vote. If Kennedy is successfully confirmed HHS Secretary, his numerous conspiracy theories and lack of medical training and knowledge could lead to serious health and medical emergencies. It is crucial that senators, regardless of party, prioritize the health and safety of all Americans by voting against the confirmation of RFK Jr. as HHS Secretary.
Why It Matters:
If Kennedy is sworn in as HHS Secretary, he will bear the immense responsibility of overseeing America’s insurance, drugs, medical supplies, and food systems. This role should never be taken lightly, and in RFK Jr.’s case, he is simply unqualified. Kennedy has promoted harmful, disproven conspiracy theories, such as claiming vaccines cause autism, despite overwhelming medical evidence to the contrary. He also advocates for raw milk, which the FDA and CDC warn is unsafe due to the risk of dangerous bacteria like salmonella, E. coli, and listeria, as well as viruses like H5N1 Bird Flu. Moreover, Kennedy has shown a troubling disregard for mental health, linking antidepressant use to mass shootings despite expert consensus finding no such connection. He also espouses baseless claims about chemicals in water supposedly altering children’s sexuality and gender identity, which has been debunked by scientific experts. Additionally, he rejects established science, including the well documented link between HIV and AIDS, demonstrating both a lack of medical knowledge and a dangerous skepticism toward proven science.
Status:
Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s appointment as Health and Human Services Secretary will shortly be voted on by the Senate. It is imperative that senators vote against RFK Jr. and prioritize the health of all Americans.
