NOW President Terry O’Neill writes for US News and World Report: “Voter suppression laws are notoriously targeted at communities of color, especially African-American communities. For that reason alone such laws are an affront to the values of democracy, human rights and just plain decency. But it is also true that voter suppression is intended to block the election of candidates who put forward progressive, inclusive, forward-looking visions for our country. In short, the path for progressive advances runs through the voter suppression measures and tactics that Republicans (now white nationalists) have used to such devastating effect in recent years.”
