Allendra Letsome, Membership Vice President
Allendra Letsome has devoted her entire professional career to feminist advocacy. At the 2009 National NOW Conference, she was elected membership vice president, joining a select group of women who became national officers before their 30th birthday. In addition to overseeing NOW's membership and fundraising departments, Letsome serves as a national spokesperson for the group on issues ranging from domestic violence to women in the media. She is committed to reaching out to women from diverse communities and ensuring that their voices and viewpoints are included in the feminist movement.
Letsome's first position within the National Organization for Women was legislative intern with Maryland NOW, which she held for the two state legislative sessions spanning from 2003 to 2004. In addition to being one of the founding members of the National NOW Young Feminist Task Force (2003-2005), Letsome served as Maryland NOW executive vice president (2003-2005), Maryland NOW co-president (2005-2006), and Maryland NOW PAC chair (2005-2006).
After graduating from the University of Baltimore in 2005 and successfully passing the Maryland Bar exam, Letsome committed herself to working in the field of public policy. She first accepted a position with the DC Coalition Against Domestic Violence as policy manager and then with the organization Legal Momentum as policy intern. For the 2005 election cycle, Letsome worked with the National Women's Political Caucus, while simultaneously serving as Maryland NOW PAC chair.
Prior to the NOW election in Indianapolis, Letsome was serving as the grassroots organizer and religious outreach coordinator for Americans United for Separation of Church and State.
