WASHINGTON, D.C. — Donald Trump must be impeached now, and for the sake of history.
He must stand in judgment before the Congress he defiled, desecrated and made into a target for insurrectionists who answered his call to be “wild” and stop the certification of Joe Biden’s victory.
And he must also be judged by history, which in fifty or a hundred years may not recall the details of Donald Trump’s immigration policies or tax cuts, but will never forget that he was the only president to be impeached twice.
Through his own words and actions, he has demonstrated time and again that he is dangerous for women, people of color, and marginalized communities – and now he has proven that he is a threat to our entire democracy itself.
NOW supports the swift action by Speaker Nancy Pelosi to move to a floor vote on impeachment. A subsequent trial in the Senate will afford another opportunity for Republican Senators to reveal their moral centers—or hide from them. NOW calls on Republican members of the House of Representatives to resign from the “insurrection caucus” and rejoin the side of democracy. Vote to impeach, now.
