Giving Back on #GivingTuesday

The holiday season is already upon us.  This past Thursday was Thanksgiving, a holiday dedicated to celebrating everything we are grateful for in our lives.  Black Friday and Cyber Monday, which occur immediately afterwards, are devoted to snagging a great bargain. But after giving thanks and buying gifts, where are the opportunities encouraging us to give back?  For this, we have Giving Tuesday.

Giving Tuesday was founded in 2012 by New York’s 92nd Street Y in partnership with the United Nations Foundation. This now-global movement dedicates the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to giving back to our communities.  Giving Tuesday encourages people to donate time, money, and resources to vital causes and organizations, presenting a charitable alternative to the consumer-focused holidays earlier in the week.  The movement has engaged over 10,000 organizations around the world, and the NOW Foundation is a proud participant.

The organizations participating in Giving Tuesday conduct vital social justice work that enhances the quality of our communities.  Because many of them are non-profits like NOW, they often times rely heavily on donations from generous supporters to accomplish their goals.  Giving Tuesday provides supporters an opportunity to participate in this change through personal donations.  By providing monetary support, you can play a crucial role in helping these organizations better our communities.

This #GivingTuesday, help us advance the fight for women’s lives by making a donation to the NOW Foundation! Your support is vital to the continued success of our movement.
